This week, my dear friend, amazing artist, and super fun person to be around, Langdon Graves, has put together what she would wear with the Stacking Rings. Here’s what she had to say about her selection:
“September and October in New York are packed with gallery openings, which means I tend to dress a little sharper and also that I have to do a lot of walking. I went with Indian Summer-inspired pieces to wear with my stacking rings because I’m not quite ready to let go of lakeside afternoons. But paired with tights and a jacket, these will transition well into cooler temperatures.”
1. Capital Top in amber, Cut Away Skirt in pine, Filly Designs 2. Sculpture Dress in pine, Filly Designs 3. Soph Sunglasses, American Apparel 4. The Warren Wallet in natural, Shelter 5. Stacking Rings, Bittersweet Project 6. Carson Oxford in black, Frye 7. Multicolor Stripe Sock, Missoni 8. Simple Cardamom Lip Balm, Marble and Milkweed
The long awaited Dragonfly Wing Earrings are now available in my Etsy.
I thought I’d share a little about my process and how these earrings came to be. The idea for them came about when I saw a beautiful dragonfly outside my studio on a sunny summer day. I began by doodling a rough idea. Then I go into a computer program to draw out the design as a vector graphic. After I have a vector design I hand saw it out. In this case I cut it out of brass.
Once I was happy with the design, I sent the file off to have them laser cut out of stainless steel. When I get the parts back from the laser cutter they are pretty rough, so I spend some time cleaning them up.
Head over to my Etsy Shop to get a pair, and to celebrate the release of these earrings I’m offering free shipping through the end of the month. Use the coupon code “SEPTEMBER12” at checkout.
We went with a bunch of friends, out to the Olympic Peninsula this weekend, to go camping on the side of the Sol Duc River. On Saturday, we went out to Cape Flattery, to the most Northwest point of the continental US. Sunday we checked out a junk shop where I got this sweet typewriter for $3. It was a great way to spend the last weekend of summer. Here are some of my Instagram photos from this weekend. Also, you can follow me on Instagram @bittersweetproject.
I’m getting excited about fall. It’s my favorite time of year, and I love fall fashion since I love layers. Here is my selection of what I’d wear my cellular ring with.
1. Sterling silver Cellular Ring 2. Umens by Humanoid 3. Listen Knit Sweater by Weekday 4. Italian Lurex Scarf by Love Quotes 5. 1969 Sexy Boyfriend Jeans by Gap 6. Martina S Ankle Boot 7. The Charlie Bag by Olive Tree Textiles
Also, I used the free “Inky Photoshop Brushes” by Ez at Creature Comforts for my title. Thanks Ez.
I have a love hate relationship with Craigslist, and yesterday was no exception. Lately I’ve been searching for two things on there – a Canon Rebel T2i DSLR and a Vika Artur Ikea table. I found both on there the other day, and made plans to get the items yesterday evening. But after a few emails coordinating time and location to get the camera, the guy emails me and tells me that he sold it to someone else, and that is my problem with Craigslist. Often times people make verbal or email agreements to buy things from sellers on Craigslist, who then break that agreement and sell it to someone else.
This brings me to the love part of Craigslist. I have found some great stuff on there and met some really cool people in the process. So I went to go pick up the table and it was perfect. Exactly what I was looking for. I wanted this table because the height is adjustable so I can raise it to match the height of my bench.
But, the coolest part of it was that the woman (Tamara) who was selling it told me that all of the money from the items, that she is selling on Craigslist, go towards a bunny shelter for rescue bunnies. Yes, that’s right a bunny shelter! Then she asked me if I wanted to meet one of the bunnies, which is when I went into a state of cute overload shock. I have never seen a bunny like this, so nothing in my life had prepared me for this level of in-person cuteness. Just look at that fantastic haircut on that bunny.
The organization that Tamara is raising funds for is Special Bunny, and they are having a benefit auction and Greek fest on October 20th in Edmonds. If you are in the Seattle area and love bunnies, you should go to this auction.
